Save Some Valuable Time Every Week Using SimplyFile for Outlook

TechHit, makers of the previously-reviewed Facebook and Twitter plugins for Outlook, have yet another utility (among many) that’s designed to make your daily Outlook experience just a tad better.

SimplyFile is designed to help you, well, simply file messages that are in your Outlook inbox into the appropriate folder. By using "an advanced algorithm to learn and adapt to your filing habits," SimplyFile gives you a recommended folder destination as soon as you select/highlight/read a message in your inbox. By clicking on the SimplyFile button, the message immediately goes to that destination; thus saving you from dragging, scrolling through your folder structure and dropping it into the necessary folder once you’ve found it.

If, by chance, the recommended destination isn’t exactly where you want the message to be filed, the drop-down list where that folder is highlighted also contains a list of alternate, algorithm-based recommended destinations in addition to a separate list of frequently-used destinations:

Of course, this sub-500kb plugin tends to be most effective for those with a seriously in-depth folder structure (like myself.)

So, if you are one of those people, this one is definitely worth the $40. If, however, you’re hesitant to drop the CHC for fear that the plugin won’t quite live up to expectations, there’s a  30-day trial available and I highly recommend you install it. I’ve honestly been saving an impressive amount of time every day and every week over the last month while running the trial.

Additionally, here are some other unique (and, might I add, valuable) features of SimplyFile that the company highlights on the application’s official page:

  • No configuration wizards, no manual setup, no rules to maintain. It just works!
  • Works on sent and received messages.
  • Removes Outlook’s "New Mail" icon when filing a message.
  • Saves sent messages in any Outlook folder, including Public Folders.
  • Turn messages into Tasks and Appointments with one click of a mouse.
  • Easily convert HTML messages to plain text format.
  • Highly optimized for speed and size (Download is only 495KB).

What about you? Are there any other plugins for Outlook that you can’t live without? Give us a shout in the comments. (I’m personally a big fan of Taglocity.)

Also, as a side-note, I’ve had many conversations with the authors of both Taglocity (a product of Terazen Technology) and SimplyFile (a product of TechHit) and it’s worth mentioning that both the authors and their respective companies are very-much dedicated to providing their users with a great software experience.
