Help to Aide Your Forgetfulness with StopWatch and the MP3 Pizza Timer

0 Comments 22 November 2008

Remember That Mountain Dew You Put in the Freezer 70 Minutes Ago? Yeah, It’s Frozen Now. Of course, you could have avoided this ghastly scenario by just setting a timer and that’s exactly where the following two, free standalone apps come into play.

First up, we have StopWatch. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, I assure you. Just download the .exe, run it and start counting down. I use this in a couple of different ways. First, it’s great for setting quick goals for myself (e.g., finish this blog post in less than 10 minutes, use the next 5 minutes to read a few verses, etc.) Second, it’s helpful in scenarios like I mentioned in the first paragraph or to let me know how long the item in the oven has left before I devour it.

The next app I want to highlight is the MP3-PizzaTimer. I’m hoping the application’s name, in addition to the general theme of this post, has clued you in to what exactly it has to offer: it’s a timer set to alert you of a deadline by playing an MP3 track of your choice.

Both applications are very lightweight and 100% free.

In addition, we’ve previously covered some other great, free and portable applications in the following post: "Fans of Tech InDepth: 10 Great Examples to Help You Get Started with Portable Apps"
