Gmail + Talk

0 Comments 07 February 2006

After launching Firefox this morning, I noticed something different about the Gmail home page. It seems as though they are beginning to integrate Google Talk from within the Gmail interface. The idea seems pretty inventive, actually, giving me one more reason to never leave Gmail. Here’s what Google has to say about it:

“Chat with your friends from right inside Gmail. There’s no need to load a separate program or look up new addresses. It’s just one click to chat with the people you already email, as well as anyone on the Google Talk network. And now you can even save and search for chats in your Gmail account.

We’ve started rolling this out to all Gmail accounts, so yours should have it soon. It’s good to chat. Learn more.”

First, they put all of the Super Bowl commercials all in one place for me and now this. Google is on my good side this week. Oh, and sorry about all of the Google stories lately. I hate rumors.

Update: Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt stated in an article on Forbes that the service should be available to all Gmail users within 2-3 weeks.
